ANSWERS TO THE LAST POLL AND THE NEW ONE

Well, the poll is closed and the results are in. 50% of you said that you study with the NAS version of the Bible the most, and the other 50% said that you studied with the NKJV. Interesting. I gave other choices like the NIV and the KJV, but no one voted for those, not that you never use these versions. Funny thing is, I usually will use the NAS at church (and trust me, I'm not pushing or endorsing one version over the other here--no legalism in this for me), study with the NKJV, NAS, KJV, and a couple of other versions, and read and meditate for my nightly devotions the TEV. I use the Interlinear Greek-English New Testament to study sometimes also, but mainly I use it in, well...my Greek class. I guess I said all of this to say, I like using many versions for many reasons. Isn't it great to have several versions of your own, so that you can get a clearer understanding, in a lot of cases, among other reasons?

Well, I'm putting up another poll, so don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of this blog page to take a shot at it, just for fun! It's been a long time since I've put up a new poll question, but finally, there is a fresh, new one at the bottom of this blog page. Scroll all the way down and leave your answer. At the closing of the poll, I'll post the results.

The results to the last poll, "Are you a liquid soap person, a bar soap person, or both?" went like this: Only ONE person answered and that person (thank you to whomever it was that answered:) was a liquid soap person. Me...I do both. I have liquid soap at the sink in the kitchen and on the vanity top in the bathroom for hands. I use bar soap in the shower and I use a special kind of bar soap for grimy kitchen and garden hands that are especially dirty. All of my specialty and handmade soaps are bar soaps too.

This is late-breaking but, I also just added a totally brand new page element (that you'll get to see on my blog daily now, so come back often and test and/or increase your Bible knowledge) at the bottom of the blog page, right above my poll, called Daily Bible Trivia Quiz. I found it tonight and I think it's so neat! More knowledge about the Word and the Lord--you've now got a really good reason to come back and see me...everyday.

NEW POLL AND MESSAGE FOR YOU

My precious readers, there is a new poll at the bottom of the page, and I'd like for you all to participate, just for fun!! Sorry I hadn't updated and put out a new poll lately. I try to do one once a week, but the last couple of weeks have been mighty hectic, and when I posted, I forgot all about the poll. The answer to the last poll's question, "Which word means 'of persons given to using long words?" was the word sesquipedalian. I learned something new too. I never knew that word before I put the poll out. I love learning new words and their meanings!


One more thing I need you to know before I go; I will not be home to post for an entire week, starting tomorrow, so don't forget about me while I'm gone:), and I apologize for not being able to give you something fresh and new. For those of you who would like to pray whenever you think about my family and I, please do so. We welcome the prayers.

Poll Answer and tea giveaway winner

The answer to last week's poll was the Scelbi. The original question was, "which one of these was among the first of home computers?" I had provided a few choices, and no one got it right. The Commodore 64 was what everyone thought. Well, good guess. I remember my dad buying us one of those. I thought it was the first home computer. Little did I know at the time, computers had been out, especially in businesses, for a long time. But hey, I was young, it was the first machine I had ever seen like that in anyone's home, so that's what I thought. We were the first ones in our neighborhood to have one. It was cool.

There were many computer-like machines out a long time ago, but the Scelbi was among the first two inventions of a home computer for personal use.


And now for the good news---NO KIDDING, PATRICE H. WON MY TEA GIVEAWAY CONTEST...AGAIN. And no people and Patrice, it wasn't planned just because I do love you. It was totally random and hubby picked the names. Hey, if you keep this up Patrice, I will never have to spend money on shipping prizes out, although I don't mind. Let me also ask your apologies for getting this news and the tea out late. I didn't forget, but I had trouble with the ordering at first (didn't know I'd have to call to order rather than just order online), then I had to put this off because I got bogged down with other things. I'm never late on my giveaways, so please forgive me. I'll try not to let that happen again. My goal is to have my winners their prizes by the end of the month. Anyhooty, your tea is on the way. THIS WEEK'S POLL ANSWER

The answer to this week's poll, "which country consumes the most tea annually?" is India. Can you believe it? Only one person thought of this one. Most of you thought that China consumed the most, and I think there was one for Japan. I can see why you thought this. You hear the most about Japanese and Chinese tea and tea drinking, but there are many regions in India that grow tea and practically the whole population consumes it several times a day. There are probably some there who don't get their 6-8 glasses of water a day and prefer to drink tea instead, with water coming in second instead of first. Look at the bottom of the blog page for the new poll for this week. Answer coming next week. Tune in. BTW, sorry no post for Mommy Mondays today. Mommy was being a Mommy and was too busy to post. Jacob was the most popular boy's name in 2006. That surprised me when I found the information. I don't think anyone picked that name as their answer either. So...there you go. THIS WEEK'S POLL ANSWER

Well you thought you knew the answer to the poll question at the bottom of my blog, "What was the most popular girl name for 2006?" I got you this time. Usually your answers are right on the money, but Madison was NOT the most popular girl name chosen for babies in 2006. Surprisingly, according to the Social Security Administration, Emily was the most popularly chosen girl's name. Tune in for the next poll question and see if you know the answer. POLL RESULTS

Well the result of the poll at the bottom of my blog is in. Couldn't fool you old folks!! You, of course, knew that the music records from the "old days" were made of vinyl instead of rubber, plexi-glass, or some of the other choices I gave. What you may not have known is that there was one other choice I gave, that records WERE made of besides vinyl, and that was...SHELLAC. Google information on these now ancient, round music marvels of their time, and you will see how they were made, and other materials they were made of. It surprised me when I researched it. My husband still has most of his old favorites on records (or "albums"). I have been wanting to get him an old record player so that he can hear that nice, warm, crackling sound again, of the music that thrilled his soul so long ago. He would love to spin those discs on the turntable again. My how time flies. We now have little mini discs compared to 45's or LP's called CD's and we probably have other mini things that this electronic iliterate (sp?) doesn't know of. What next? Well, I'm off to post the next poll. Watch for it and give your answer.

POLL RESULTS

Here are the poll results for "which country is credited with discovering tea first." 67% of you thought that it was Japan. 33% credited China. The correct answer is China (it was brought over to Japan later), BUT...Japan is well-known for perfecting the art of tea processing AND tea drinking along with the tea ceremony. They are well known for "tea culture." I personally think that Japan has done a fantastic job in perfecting the production of some of the finest green tea in the world. I've tasted green tea from China, and while I like it, I absolutely love Japanese green tea and I can easily tell the difference. Anyway, taste for yourself and see which one you like.

SOAP POLL ANSWERS

My peops are so smart! You did know after all, which brand names the FDA considered soap, by their definition. There was a 50% vote for Dial and a 50% vote for Ivory. Both are considered true soaps by the FDA's definition. The one that surprised me after I read the ingredients on the package was Tone. It would be considered a true soap too. I guess everyone knew that Dove (the moisturizing beauty bar) and Oil of Olay, which I'm sure feels great on the skin, (but that doesn't even sound like a "true" soap), would not factor in. They are "bars," not soaps. One day, I will tell you what ingredients a true soap has to have and why to be considered that. I'm sure that's not on the top of your priority or interest list of reading right now. You're probably asking yourself, what kind of time does this lady have on her hands and why does she know such trivial things (and 'who cares?'). I actually don't have a lot of time on my hands and the reason you get these things from me is because over the years, I've had my hands in doing a lot of things (apparently that I think are still interesting--now that ought to tell you what kind of person I am:)) and I also have a tendency (I guess you can call it that) to remember or retain interesting and apparently uninteresting little facts about stuff I read a long time ago; stuff that probably doesn't matter 90% of the time in our lives except that small 10% when somebody needs to know something out of the ordinary or unusual, and then here comes WEIRDO TO THE RESCUE. Oh well, if you're my friend, family member, or reader, you're weird right along with me:), or you think weird is okay:)! (or you just put up with me...whatever!)
